McDonald’s Review in Ireland: What You Need to Know

Ireland McDonalds

My Honest Review of McDonald’s in Ireland

I am what most people would refer to as a McDonald’s fein.

If you do not currently have the McDonald’s app, I recommend you drop what you are doing and download it ASAP. I currently have over 10,000 unused points.

One of my favorite things about visiting a new country is going to McDonald’s to see how it varies from our McDonald’s in the United States.

For the most part, McDonald’s in foreign countries is pretty similar to McDonald’s in the States. However, the menu items can be unique to the country you are in. For example, Italy is known for its McPasta, and Singapore is known for its Durian McFlurry.

Having visited McDonald’s in 15 different countries now, I view trying McDonald’s in foreign countries as a cultural experience for myself!

I typically like to order items on the menu that may be unique to that particular country, along with a McChicken. The McChicken serves as my control subject to see how the quality of McDonald’s in other countries compares to the quality of McDonald’s in the States.

I love McChickens very much, and even though McDonald’s refuses to respond to my tweets regarding the recent price gouging, I still consume multiple McChickens each week!

What I Ordered at McDonald’s in Ireland

The McDonald’s menu in Ireland did not have many unique menu items. Aside from a few limited-time items, such as the Philly Cheesesteak Burger, the menu was somewhat similar to what most McDonald’s offer in the United States.

After a long night at the Temple Bar in Dublin, we walked over to McDonald’s for some late-night snacks and ordered the following:

  • Big Mac
  • 6 piece Chicken Nugget
  • Triple Cheeseburger
  • Normal McChicken
  • Bacon McChicken
  • Oreo McFlurry

We spent 19.60 EUR, and the McDonald’s was almost as crowded as the bar we were at. We had to wait about 30-40 minutes for our food. However, it was worth the wait once we got it!

Big Mac Review

I really do not have much to comment on for the Big Mac we had in Ireland. The sandwich was well put together, and the sauce was yummy.

The burger was not noticeably bad or good and tasted great after a long night out. I would say that Big Macs in Ireland are about equal to Big Macs in the United States.

The Big Mac cost 5.70 EUR.

Big Mac: 8.3/10

Chicken Nugget Review

In my opinion chicken nuggets can be hit or miss at McDonald’s.

They are best to eat right when you get them and still hot. Once the nuggets cool down, I do not enjoy them very much, and they are not good reheated.

When we got our McDonald’s in Ireland, we ordered it to go and had about a 15-minute walk back to our hotel room before we ate. Due to this, our nuggets were lukewarm at best.

To be completely honest cold chicken nuggets in Ireland tasted similar to cold chicken nuggets in the United States.

The chicken nuggets cost 3.60 EUR.

Nuggets: 8.6/10

Triple Cheeseburger Review

The triple cheeseburger from McDonald’s is slowly becoming one of my favorite menu items. Aside from the egregious price, it is very close to perfection.

Similar to the nuggets, the triple cheeseburger was cold when I ate it. However, from what I remember, it was good. It was the last item I ate, and I was pretty full by the time I started eating the triple cheeseburger. The 8.2/10 rating is partly due to how full I was.

The triple cheeseburger cost 3.40 EUR.

Triple Cheeseburger: 8.2/10

Normal McChicken Review

As I previously stated, I am a McDonald’s McChicken fanatic.

When McChickens were on the dollar at McDonald’s, it was one of the best things in the world. Even when McDonald’s had the 2 for 3 McChicken deal, I would frequent the fast food chain multiple times a week.

McChickens are easily one of my top 5 favorite foods, and even with the recent price increase, I remain loyal to the brand.

@McDonald’s, can you please make the McChicken $1 again??

While some entrees overseas are served the same as in the States, I would not claim that McChickens fall into this category.

McChickens vary from country to country, and from my experience, some countries have modified the McChicken for the better, and some have changed it up for the worse.

Ireland changed it for the worse.

It was kinda dry, with no real mayonnaise on it, and the lettuce kinda sucked.

The normal McChicken cost 2.00 EUR.

Normal McChicken: 6.7/10

Bacon McChicken Review

As if I wasn’t disappointed enough after eating the normal McChicken in Ireland, they also had a Bacon McChicken on the menu.

I have never seen a Bacon McChicken before, and it turns out it is for a good reason.

The bacon was all European-like, soggy, limp, and chewy.

The McChicken itself was very similar to the normal McChicken I had previously eaten. Sucked.

My recommendation. Do not get the Bacon McChicken in Ireland.

Or if you do, let me know!

The Bacon McChicken cost 2.60 EUR.

Bacon McChicken: 5.2/10

Oreo McFlurry Review

The Oreo McFlurry was amazing.

The machine worked. The ice cream was cold and creamy. The only issue was that it was winter and freezing.

If it was summer, the Oreo McFlurry would rank much, much higher.

Definitely get it if you go!

The Oreo McFlurry cost 2.30 EUR.

Oreo McFlurry: 8.7/10

Irish McDonald’s Verdict

Overall, McDonald’s in Ireland was not the worst I have ever had.

It would be cool if McDonald’s added unique entrees unique to the country. They could, and I just might not know of them.

However, from my experience, they do not.

If you’re looking for a quick meal, get it. If not, you should get Guinness and Beef Stew at a Pub. Or get an order of Fish and Chips.
